DETROIT, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ — The prestigious Duckhorn Wine Company will commence a series of Winemaker’s Dinners at Iridescence restaurant on August 20, 2008. Acclaimed for its classic Napa Valley Bordeaux-varietal wines, its Paraduxx Napa Valley Red Wine and its Goldeneye Pinot Noir from the Anderson Valley, Duckhorn Wine Company will be pairing a selection of six wines with an exquisite multi-course menu. These wines will include Duckhorn Vineyards’ Cabernet, Sauvignon Blanc, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Merlot, and Decoy Napa Valley Red Wine. The wines will be described, tasted and thoroughly explained by Duckhorn Wine Company representative Judi Britt prior to each course.

Iridescence, which reopened in January 2008 in its new space 17 stories above the city at the top of MotorCity casino Hotel, is the only AAA Four Diamond restaurant in Detroit and the winner of the 2007 Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence.
“Having the opportunity to pair elegant food with Duckhorn’s exceptional offering of premiere wines is an exciting challenge,” said Chef Adam Hightower, who, with Executive Pastry Chef Tricia Nash, crafted the event’s eight-course degustation menu after tasting Duckhorn’s wine selection. “I’m especially excited about our pairing of Poele of Squab with the ‘James Bond of wines,’ Goldeneye Pinot Noir,” he said. Chef Hightower said he created the Poele of Squab dish, with its rich, distinct flavors, to balance the sweet and delicate flavors of the Pinot Noir.
“It’s an honor to launch our Winemaker’s Dinner series with Duckhorn, one of the most remarkable winemakers in the world,” said Iridescence Maitre d’ Matt Jackson.
“Iridescence is the only large fine dining restaurant in the area to offer a winemaker’s dinner series, and we look forward to hosting vintners from all regions, including our own highly accomplished Michigan wineries,” Jackson said.
The unprecedented environment of Iridescence is highlighted by a unique climate and humidity controlled wine wall that houses more than 300 bottles of premium wines in a 40 ft. tall illuminated case. A full selection of Duckhorn Wine Company wines will be available on Iridescence’s new wine menu when it debuts this fall.
